Coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever) is a systemic mycosis caused by the fungi Coccidiodes immitis and Coccidioides posadasii. In the United States, this disease primarily occurs in the Southwest (especially Arizona and the central valley of California). MiraVista Veterinary Diagnostics has developed both an antigen test and canine IgG antibody test for Coccidioides, and we also offer AGID antibody testing.
Please see our Learning Resources to assist with proper test selection for patients with suspected Valley Fever.
