Syndromic Veterinary Fungal Panels
Cats and dogs are presented to the veterinarian with a set of clinical signs, that along with physical examination and routine diagnostic results, form a syndrome. The differential diagnoses list and diagnostic investigation are based on that syndrome. In response to this natural clinical order, and in order to maximize clinical efficiency, MiraVista Diagnostics has developed Syndromic Fungal Panels. MVD Syndromic Panels are available for animals where ocular, bone, GI, or nasal disease are a significant aspect of the clinical picture.
Syndromic Panels capture the nuances of the highly variable nature of IFIs. For example, when histoplasmosis is localized to the eye, bone, or GI tract the Histoplasma antigen test is more likely to be false negative, as compared to multisystemic disease. For this reason, Histoplasma antigen and IgG tests are included in these panels, maximizing diagnostic sensitivity. This level of detail considering all the potential fungal pathogens, host-species, and geographic location has been included in each MVD Syndromic Panel.
